Job Description

Population Matters has reached an exciting point in its development and is looking for a Finance and Administrative Officer to help with the smooth running of our growing organisation. This is a varied and interesting role in a small and friendly team, where everyone’s contribution matters.  Reporting to the Head of Governance and Supporter Services, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day accounting records, including playing a key role in month and year end finances. You will also use CiviCRM, our open source donor management system, to support our fundraising and stakeholder engagement activities (training will be provided).

You will be a self-starter and be able to work accurately to deadlines with minimal supervision. Population Matters works as a virtual team, so this role is home-based, with regular travel to London, therefore candidates should live within an easy, regular commute to West London. Being able to work on your own initiative and virtually is a key part of this role.  You will also be able to provide sound advice to senior management and staff, build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders and be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.

This role would particularly suit someone who is highly numerate, with experience of accounting systems and has an open and flexible approach.  Experience of working within the voluntary/third sector and knowledge of the charities SORP will be beneficial, as will an aptitude for acquiring new skills.

This is envisaged as a part time role (average 15 hours per week that could be worked flexibly).

Population Matters is an inclusive and diversity-friendly employer. We value difference, promote equality and challenge discrimination, enhancing our organisational capability. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age or any other category protected by law.

Please submit a CV and a letter of no more than 500 words outlining how you meet the requirements in the attached job description and person specification, and telling us about what you will bring to the role.

The deadline for applications is midday on 11/03/2020. Interviews will be held w/c 16/03/2020.

Due to our size it may not be possible to respond to every application.  If you have not heard from us by 16/03/2020 you should assume that, on this occasion, your application has been unsuccessful.  Thank you for your interest in Population Matters.
