Carers Support Merton (CSM) is a well established and respected charity in the London Borough of Merton with an ambitious development programme of work to support promote and improve the quality of life of unpaid carers from the age of 5 years. CSM has an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Mentor Co-ordinator to join our friendly team.  The postholder will implement a new mentoring programme for young Carers aged 10 – 17 years.  This role provides an excellent opportunity to lead on the development of a project from scratch with plenty of scope to input your own ideas.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children and young people aged 10 – 17 years, and will be able to promote the very best practice particularly in terms of safeguarding.  You will be a good self-starter and have a ‘can do’ attitude.  You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to recruit, train. inspire and supervise a high quality volunteer mentors.  It’d be great if you come with experience of leading a team of  volunteers.  However, we’d be equally interested if you can demonstrate transferable skills and enthusiasm towards developing expertise in volunteer management. The postholder will be required to work flexibly and predominately when mentors and young people are available, which will generally include after school, early evenings, school holidays and occasional weekends. 

The postholder will be based at our offices in Mitcham but we are able to offer the opportunity for some homeworking.
