Job Description

It's a challenging but very exciting time to join UEL Students' Union. We're part-way through a journey towards being a more effective and more relevant students' union which truly represents and supports our hyper-diverse membership. After a restructuring exercise, we're hiring staff for five new posts.

The postholder will be responsible for developing the Union’s new policy function to support student officers, other student representatives and staff to develop policy positions on issues affecting our members. They will undertake research in conjunction with colleagues to ensure policy is informed by evidence. The policy function is new, so the postholder will have to work closely with colleagues to get this up-and-running.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a similar role with proven success, using evidence-informed approaches to support policy-making, analysing complex evidence from a range of sources and producing reports/recommendations which articulate clear positions and objectives. Experience of supporting the policy work of elected officials or volunteers would be useful but isn't essential.
