Hours: 35 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend will be required so we are prepared to discuss flexible working.

Salary: £25000 - £28000 dependent on experience

About KEEN London

KEEN London’s vision is that every child has the chance to enjoy sports and leisure activities and none are left behind due to disability.

We provide free sports and games sessions with one to one support to disabled children and their siblings. Over 100 families across London are members of the KEEN family and we provide over 6,000 hours of supported care to disabled children every year.

Role Description:

Over the past 5 years KEEN London has grown significantly and we now run our weekend activity sessions over 3 sites in North, South and East London. We have a diverse pool of more than 200 volunteers helping to deliver our services, predominantly by providing one-to-one coaching support to the disabled children attending our activities and games sessions.

Volunteers are central to what we do and we are looking for someone who can play a key role in the future success of our service.

Responsibilities:

Volunteer Management and Training

  • Make sure that volunteering at KEEN London is a positive and fun experience.
  • Manage the volunteer population to make sure that there are sufficient volunteer numbers to deliver all planned activities.
  • Work closely with the Session Coordinators, sharing information and volunteer feedback.
  • Communicate regularly with all volunteers, rewarding positive achievements and reinforcing the volunteer agreement and policy.
  • Develop and deliver volunteer training so that all volunteers are able to meet their potential and complete their volunteer roles effectively.
  • Develop and maintain volunteering policies and procedures and keep on top of any changes in legislation.
  • Carry out regular data analysis on our volunteer database, tracking attendance, monitoring volunteering trends and making recommendations on future directions.
  • Oversee our Coaches Apprenticeship Programme, supporting young people with a learning disability into volunteering. Monitor the progress of apprentice coaches and liaise with Session Coordinators to develop and expand our Coaches Apprenticeship Programme.
  • Conduct termly steering groups with volunteers to gain feedback and insight into their experience.

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Develop a volunteer recruitment strategy.
  • Attend volunteer fairs and community recruitment events.
  • Highlight areas of need within the organisation and conduct targeted recruitment.
  • Monitor and maintain our online applications portal.
  • Produce and monitor advertisements for volunteers using online portals such as Vinspired, Team London and Universities.

Required Experience

Essential

  • Managing and recruiting volunteers
  • Working in a youth and/or disability environment
  • Data input and analysis ideally using Salesforce or similar CRM
  • Previous experience as a volunteer

Desirable

  • Designing and delivering training

Required Skills

Essential

  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people
  • High level of proficiency in written and spoken English

Desirable

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection legislation
