Job Description

Walk Leadership Support Officer

From organising venues and trainers, to talking with volunteers about their bookings, the Walk Leadership Support Officer will always be busy! If you like juggling lots of different priorities, enjoy working with volunteers and know your way around a spreadsheet, this could be a great next step in your career.

About the Ramblers

Here at the Ramblers we’re passionate about helping everyone, everywhere to find their feet and protecting the spaces we all love to walk.

We are Britain's largest walking charity, with 105,000 members and a proud campaigning history.  Volunteers are at the heart of what we do – whether leading one of 55,000 walks which take place every year, creating a library of routes for independent walkers, or looking after footpaths.

But we can’t afford to stand still!  We’re evolving to make sure that we continue to deliver fantastic experiences for walkers and connect with more of the UK’s 9 million walkers.

About the role

Our team is growing!  We’re looking for a walk leadership support officer to join the Ramblers team.

The role will be part of the Ramblers Delivery team, based in London.

With over 600 Ramblers groups and path maintenance teams across Great Britain, it’s vital that we provide the right support, to give our volunteers the skills and confidence they need. Over the next year the delivery team will lead a number of exciting new projects to expand support for walk leaders, giving them the skills and confidence they need to lead safe and exciting walks.

This role will assist the team to deliver training and support for walk leaders.  On any given day, you will be: coordinating a national training programme, booking venues, answering questions from volunteers and staff, and keeping training records up to date.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with strong coordination and skills, who is able to take the lead to coordinate a national programme of training events.

Whether you’re planning training dates, liaising with suppliers, creating resources, or managing volunteer bookings – you will be an enthusiastic team-player, working closely with colleagues to understand project requirements, and keep everything on track. When challenges arise, you will work together with colleagues to resolve issues swiftly as they arise.

As the go-to person for questions, you must have exceptional customer service skills – providing a fantastic support service to volunteers, staff and partners by phone and email.

Essential requirements include:

  • Experience of admin and supporting a team to deliver projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to understand and resolve issues
  • Familiarity with a range of IT applications, and the ability to support others to use systems

If you think you’ve got what it takes to be our new walk leadership support officer, we’d love to hear from you!

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
