Trustee
storyhouse

Job Description

Storyhouse isseeking to appoint new trustees to its board of trustees, which is led by our chair Peter Mearns and which provides governance and strategic leadership to our organisation.

Storyhouse prides itself as one of the country’s most innovative and accessible cultural organisations, welcoming 1 million customers per year through the doors of its new building in Chester. It was officially opened in June 2018 by Her Majesty the Queen and The Duchess of Sussex.

We are a combined arts and community organisation, a substantial and innovative stage producer and creator of one the country’s most exciting new library operations.   We are based in a beautiful heritage city yet where there is also significant and overlooked deprivation, lack of opportunity and investment.  We strive to have a more normal conversation about culture and our work is often made with our communities, with whom we provide over 2,000 sessions a year to marginalised groups. Customers are divided largely equally between events, library and taking part.

We are interested in hearing from anyone with suitable experience. At this time, we would value candidates with a background in finance, legal and library innovation, however we are genuinely open to the widest range of relevant interests and experience.

Anyone over 18 is both eligible and welcome. The position is voluntary although we do reimburse board member’s expenses.
