Role Profile
ZSL is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our ICT department to provide enriched data insight alongside Business Systems Support at the application level, to ensure the smooth operation of key business facing applications, including, application maintenance, backups, and support services. Reporting directly to the Business Systems Support and Development Manager, the role holder will also work collaboratively with users across the business acting as an ICT Business Partner developing procedures, identifying and progressing system changes and enhancements, liaising with suppliers and performing Business Analysis activities where appropriate.
This specialist role requires a confident, resilient and proactive individual who is capable using SQL tools such as SSIS, SSAS, to perform statistical analysis and interpret large data to provide staff insight with data analytics to better inform decisions across the business. They will also need to have great communication skills as the role holder will work closely with the Finance Business Partnering team and Senior Business Applications Support Analysts, thus forming a close team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of all ZSL’s business facing application systems, including SRO4, the Futura database and technical and manual interfaces between systems, as well as other applications such as TrackIT, Fotoware, SharePoint.
- Ensure security and control of all access to sensitive customer and business data by following procedures
- Ensure the integrity of data across systems and ensuring users follow ZSL guidelines on data capture and consistency.
- Monitor application systems for which responsible by regular scrutiny of reports from the applications software or the ICT team. Note problems and identify performance trends. Where approved, take corrective action to improve performance and to avoid problems arising.
- Liaise with software suppliers on the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems or further fulfill user requirements.
- Help the team identify gaps in current systems and propose workable solutions.
Person Specification
Ideally the successful candidate will:
- Be educated to degree level in Information/ Communication Technology, or demonstrable experience in a comparable role.
- Hold a Microsoft BI certificated and/or be experienced in Business intelligence tools, delivery, building and designing solutions.
- Have strong experience of Microsoft SQL, and understanding SQL structures, tables and relationships that underly systems and databases; ability to use SQL tools (including SSIS, SSAS) and functions to investigate and resolve issues. Including, in depth hands on experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Have solid development experience within a data warehouse environment, including data analysis & report generation
- Be familiar with business analysis techniques in modelling and understanding a business and its operation.
- Have the ability to analyse data sets and provide insight to a range of stakeholders.
- Be independently driven and able to work well under pressure and have excellent attention to detail.
- Have a collaborative nature, can build relationships, able to adapt approach to problem solving to reflect the nature of the audience.
Please Note: This is a full-time (Mon – Fri), permanent position that is based at ZSL’s offices in London, Regents Park but may involve occasional travel to Whipsnade Zoo to assist with required projects or operational work deadlines. The position may also require occasional evening, weekend and out of office hours work.
