Job Description

170 is a charity organisation providing advice on welfare benefits and housing in the London Borough of Lewisham and also advice and support for women who have suffered domestic violence. We are based in New Cross Gate, South East London, and are recruiting for a Receptionist and Admin Support Worker to join our team.

The successful candidate should have a strong and solid experience of administration and have good IT skills, and good communication skills that will enable effective work with service users, colleagues and external agencies. He or she should also be able to manage their workload in a pressurised environment.

The role involves meeting and greeting visitors, booking appointments, taking phone messages, signposting members of the public to other services, particularly to the Advice Lewisham helpline, data input and other administrative tasks to support the work we do. The job involves dealing with vulnerable clients from all sections of the community, so it is essential that the postholder is able to sympathise with clients and work with people coming from a variety of backgrounds. We are looking for a team player who will play a key role in supporting all colleagues in their work and ensuring that an effective reception and administrative service is provided to our organisation. .

Knowledge and experience of working with voluntary and community groups and other statutory agencies is desirable. We welcome applications from local communities. Please note we do NOT accept CVs.
