Job Description

We are looking for an inspiring, dynamic and engaging Chief Executive who combines strategic vision with commercial awareness and a passion to build communities where young people are enabled and empowered to belong, contribute and thrive.

Our new Chief Executive will work in partnership with the Trustee Board in carrying out its governance responsibilities, and with the local authority and other relevant networks to develop the service in response to a changing and challenging climate.

Key requirements of the role will be to shape and deliver the next 3-5 year strategic plan, lead and mentor an enthusiastic senior management team, and embed a high-performance culture.

Previous experience of leadership roles and strategic delivery, and in upholding Christian values, are essential. Experience within the youth, charitable, and housing sectors is desirable.

About YMCA Coventry & Warwickshire

YMCA CW provides accommodation for 68 young people who would otherwise be homeless or at risk of homelessness. It employs 32 people across 5 properties throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. In addition, YMCA CW provides youth work through a three-year Youth Investment Fund grant.

Duties and Responsibilities

Governance: To maintain consistent and constructive dialogue with the Board on all matters relating to the operational functioning of the organisation, ensuring that the Board has sufficient resources, guidance and advice to remain legally compliant, solvent and effective.

Strategic Leadership: To lead YMCA CW in times of change, working closely with the Board of Trustees to drive the strategic plans, and building and maintaining relationships with the local authority and other relevant networks.

Organisational Management: Leading and mentoring senior staff in implementing the YMCA CW strategy, ensuring that robust business plans, people plans, and policies and procedures are in place, and that there is appropriate accountability for managing performance against financial and non-financial objectives – measured against KPIs – and remedial action is taken when necessary.

Culture: To create a safe and inclusive Association by promoting a culture of health & safety, well-being, and diversity and equality of opportunity, and ensuring that robust systems and polices are in place to drive a culture where everyone is valued and equipped to do their job so that the Association moves forward to meet the future needs of young people in Coventry & Warwickshire.

Minimum 3 days a week (negotiable) - £45,000-£50,000 FTE
