Job Description

We are looking for a person with a proven track record of leadership in a substantial organisation or of a team of people to join our strong trustee group and provide co-ordination and leadership as the Chair of Trustees.

Wiltshire Citizens Advice provides free and confidential advice throughout the county to anyone who needs our help. We also campaign for change to prevent problems happening in the first place.

During 2017/18, Wiltshire Citizens Advice helped 15,293 people with 35,315 issues by providing advice on a wide range of topics, including welfare benefits, debt, housing, relationship matters and employment.

We make a real difference to our communities and our fundamental vision is to help ‘the people of Wiltshire successfully deal with life’s problems’.

The role of the Chair is to co-ordinate the work of the Board in meeting its statutory responsibilities as a group of Charity Trustees and to ensure that Wiltshire Citizens Advice continues to fulfil the membership requirements of the national Citizens Advice organisation. The Chair will supervise and coach the Chief Executive and colleague Trustees, promote partnership working, build alliances and ensure a strategic focus.

The time commitment expected of this voluntary post holder will be in the region of one day per week plus evening meetings. Full training and induction will be provided and there exist significant opportunities for training & development in the role.
