Job Description

Role Responsibility As Volunteering Coordinator you will support volunteers as they participate in our short-term, international volunteering programme—Global Village. This programme provides a unique opportunity for individuals, school, and corporate teams to directly contribute to HFHGB’s mission on the ground through the building and construction of houses. You will work with HFHGB staff and HFH country and area offices to implement Global Village Builds with a view towards cultivating long-term supporters and advocates for ending the global housing crisis. You will:

1.  Work with Head of Supporter Services and HFH teams overseas to plan and implement Global Village Build trips, including:

  • maintaining the build planner,

  • tracking participants’ fundraising,

  • finalising budgets and itineraries,

  • liaising with the finance team on funds transfers,

  • and other necessary arrangements.

2.  Help manage long-term, highly skilled volunteers (Team Leaders) through hands-on support, training delivery, and consistent communications.

3.  Support long-term engagement of volunteers through challenge events, volunteering opportunities, and community fundraising.

4.  Administration of the CRM system, Raiser’s Edge, including creating new contacts, logging activities, creating tasks, running reports, and other tasks as required.

5.  Implement and review new volunteer-related systems and processes as necessary.

6.  Maintain project plans for special events.

7.  Work closely with members of the Supporter Services and Income Generation teams to provide an exemplary donor and volunteer journey experience for all HFHGB supporters.

Person Specification You will be a professional with a strong customer service background who will provide optimal support to our volunteers. You will possess a desire to make a significant contribution to achieving the organisation’s vision and mission. You will have a warm and enthusiastic manner, be self-motivated and proactive, and have a demonstrated ability to work well within a team and with empathy for the values of Habitat for Humanity.

Experience

Essential:

  • Strong customer service background.

  • Experience of creative problem solving.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.

  • High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and CRM Databases.

  • Financial literacy with the ability interpret and monitor budgets.

  • Willingness and flexibility for occasional weekend and evening work.

Desirable:

  • Experience of Raiser’s Edge.

  • Experience working in international development or NGO sector.

  • Volunteer management.

  • Training delivery.

  • International volunteer and/or work experience.

  • Project management.

  • Knowledge of voluntary sector.

  • Event management.

Skills and Aptitudes:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with ability to represent the organisation effectively both internally and externally.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of making and developing relationships with volunteers, donors, team leaders, and Area Office and international staff.

  • Strong organisation skills with attention to detail.

  • Good time management and flexibility to work on a range of tasks in order to ensure deadlines are met in all areas of the department.
