Job Description

The Giving Time Project at Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) is a Yorkshire-wide project which aims to reduce reoffending through empowering ex-offenders into volunteering.  Giving Time manages the delivery of Volunteer Centres inside local prisons including HMP Leeds, HMP/YOI Askham Grange, HMP/YOI Newhall and HMP/YOI Wetherby.  These services are run by prisoners who volunteer for VAL. The Volunteer Centres provide opportunities, advice and training for prisoners who are considering volunteering when they are released.  We also provide a service through Volunteer Centre Leeds and outreach sessions to support people with convictions in the community across Yorkshire to access volunteering and introduction to volunteering training.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Giving Time Team at VAL as a Volunteer Broker.  You will positively engage and inspire people to volunteer and challenge barriers that ex-offenders face when accessing volunteering.  It's essential that you have experience of delivering outreach services as is experience of developing and maintaining strong and effective partnerships with a range of organisations.  You will manage and support project volunteers incorporating their involvement and enable service user voice, influence and change to ensure that the project remains client focused.
