Responsible to: Transport Manager

Probation:  6 months

Contract length: To March 2019

Salary: £26,136.00  including L.W.

Hours: Full-time 35 hour week

Core hours being 10am to 4pm

Holidays: 5 weeks

About  the Access Lewisham Project

Access Lewisham (AL) is a volunteer based transport project for vulnerable Lewisham residents who are unable to access public transport. AL enables vulnerable people to attend day centres, medical appointments, respite care and social clubs.

AL is delivered utilising the skills and support of volunteers in the roles of car drivers, minibus drivers and passenger assistants. The AL project operates throughout the year and currently supports over 500 individuals.

The Project Coordinator will work with the Transport Manager to deliver and develop the service in order to increase capacity.

Purpose of Role:

To coordinate and administer the project, working with the Transport Manager to develop potential for growth in service provision, funding and volunteer capacity.

To work within a small team to ensure the organisation’s core aims and activities are efficiently delivered to a high quality standard within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within Voluntary Services Lewisham’s (VSL) policies, practice and procedures to ensure best practice is adhered to.

  • Process and match journey requests from referral agencies using the VSL’s criteria.

  • Undertake volunteer recruitment, selection, training and support processes, including motivating and developing volunteer skills.

  • Work with the team to organise and/or to facilitate group support sessions and events for all project volunteers.

  • Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for the project’svolunteers.

  • Under the guidance of the Transport Manager prepare, record and process Access Lewisham’s volunteer expense claims, service user contributions and referrers invoices.

  • Promote awareness of both the AL project and VSL, through the delivery of events, promotional talks and the production and dissemination of publicity materials.

  • Liaise with, promote, foster and maintain relationships with local authority, NHS, social work and local voluntary and community groups.

  • Under the guidance of the Transport Manager, identify and address referral access issues, and build partnership opportunities for potential expansion and enhancement of the AL service.

  • Work with the Transport Manager to deliver contract/SLA outputswithin the agreed contract specification and budgets.

  • Work with the Transport Manager to monitor the service and prepare reports for funders, CEO and the Board of Trustees as required.

  • To carry out any other duties reasonably requested and related to the role.

General

  • Ensure that you are familiar with, and keep up to date with relevant practices, policies and procedures undertaking training as required.

  • Represent AL and/ or VSL at events and forums as required.

  • Maintain accurate and efficient administrative systems including database and spreadsheets.

  • Contribute to the overall achievements of VSL’s mission and objectives.

  • To attend staff meetings and other VSL meetings as/if requested.

  • Flexibility is necessary; you must be able to work out-of hours/evenings and weekends as required, for which time off in lieu will be given.

  • Deliver services within an Equal Opportunities framework taking positive action where necessary.
