Our Policy team is shared across two organisations- LSESU and ArtsSU- and uses its sector expertise to secure positive change for our members. We work on projects spanning all areas of student life, from mental health support to quality of teaching. We’re a solution-focused team who is constantly mindful of how University and government decisions can impact our membership. Whether its presenting a paper to senior members of the University or briefing an officer before a halls rent setting meeting, the role of Policy Officer is varied and intellectually stimulating.

You will work closely with colleagues from the Academic Representation & Advice teams, as well as carry out research projects, to ensure our work is always evidence led. You will support our elected officers in their interactions with both institutions; this will include drafting papers and helping them prepare for committee meetings.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with democratically elected leaders and excited by the challenge of adapting their approach between two very different institutions. An understanding of the complexities of the Higher Education sector is preferable however we welcome candidates from all backgrounds.

The role demands exceptional team working skills, as well as the motivation to work alone. One day you may be coordinating an officer project and the next could involve writing up research findings. The ideal candidate will not be phased by a varied workload and will be able to prioritise tasks accordingly.
