The School of Advanced Study at the University of London brings together nine internationally renowned research institutes to form the UK's national centre for the support of researchers and the promotion of research in the humanities.  The Institute of Historical Research was founded in 1921 by A. F. Pollard and is an important resource and meeting place for researchers from all over the world.

About the role
The Volunteer Co-ordinator is responsible for helping to deliver the volunteer programme of the Layers of London project, based at the Institute of Historical Research. This post will play a key role in the delivery phase of the project, helping to determine its success as a large, metropolitan, heritage-related public engagement platform, and ensuring broad and diverse engagement with Londoners of different ages and walks of life.

The post holder will work as a member of a team that includes the Project Manager, the Project Administrator, the Public Engagement Officer and other colleagues from the Centre for Metropolitan History, overseen by the Project Director.

This will be a part-time (0.4 FTE) fixed-term appointment for 30 months.

About you
We are interested in meeting candidates with enthusiasm for supporting this heritage project and with proven experience of managing volunteers.  You will demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally in person and through various channels, coupled with the ability to effectively collaborate with a range of people at various levels and from diverse backgrounds. Technically adept, you are competent in utilising computer applications such as Microsoft Office and 365.  Your flexible and dynamic work approach coupled with sound organisational and record keeping skills will round off your profile.
