Job Description

Trustees sought for Christian care homes and hostel provider

Keychange Charity has been providing support and housing for vulnerable people for nearly 100 years. We manage 11 care homes for older people, 2 homeless hostels and apartments for older people. Our work is inspired by the Christian faith and we seek to give loving care of the highest standard to each person in our care and to be a voice for vulnerable people. For more information please visit the Keychange Charity corporate or care home website.

We currently have a Board of nine trustees, a full-time Chief Executive, a senior management team and support team at Head Office in central London. Our projects around the country are run by 400 staff, and we have a £7.7m annual turnover.

To fulfil our succession planning, new Trustees are sought to join the Board of the Charity.  We are specifically looking for practising evangelical Christians who have either medical or social care knowledge – preferably in current or recent practice – or finance and accounting, and knowledge of the charitable sector along with the ability to work effectively in a committed and dedicated Board.

You must be someone who recognises and fulfils your responsibilities and are able to practice good governance.  It is important that you are someone who has strategic insight to be able to see the bigger picture, keeping the aims and objectives of the charity in mind at all times. We consider the following skills and abilities are essential for carrying out the duties and responsibilities of Keychange Charity trusteeship:

  • IT skills to be able to communicate by e-mail and Skype as required
  • The commitment to meet 5 times per year in London plus occasional other meetings (likely 15-20 days required p.a. in all aspects)
  • A professional attitude to help us continue to run our business in an efficient way
  • A willingness to share and engage in discussion and participate in the decision-making process
  • Engagement with projects including visiting homes and hostels

In return, you will be working with a friendly group of people who believe in what they do, will respect your opinion and value your contribution.

If you feel you are ready to commit some of your time and experience to helping us, we would love to hear from you.  This is a voluntary position but all reasonable expenses will be paid.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
