Job Description

The Land Trust is a unique charity committed to the long term management of parks and open spaces for community benefit.

We are currently looking for Trustees to complement and strengthen our existing Board.

We are keen to hear from people from a variety of backgrounds but specifically on this occasion our primary need is for candidates with experience in: audit and finance; and environmental land management with an emphasis on biodiversity and the environmental benefits for communities of good land management. We are also interested in candidates with experience in: health and the physical and mental health benefits of green space; community engagement; and investment portfolio management.

The role of the Trustee is a rewarding one. Meeting 4-6 times per year usually in London or Warrington our Trustees ensure the Land Trust delivers on its ambitious vision and charitable objectives to improve the quality of people’s lives by creating sustainable, high quality green spaces that deliver environmental, social and economic benefits. 

The Board sets the overall strategic direction and provides scrutiny to our processes and decisions. Trustees also ensure standards of governance are upheld as well as assessing business development, risk management, performance management and internal control. Our Trustees are key to ensuring we continue to remain a viable organisation and stay on track to deliver our charitable objectives.

The Land Trust is passionate about the value that green space can have to society. We are a national charity which acquires and maintains green spaces around the UK for public benefit. With more than 60 sites, we work closely with local communities and locally based organisations to deliver our charitable objectives and deliver community, educational, health and environmental benefits.
