Trustee
dunhill medical trust

Job Description

The focus of the Dunhill Medical Trust’s charitable activities is on improving the health and well-being of older people by funding high quality research into ageing, and innovative developments in the care of older people.

With this in mind, the Board of Trustees now wishes to appoint additional Trustees and is particularly keen to encourage applications from people with an appropriate skill-set who share the Trust’s strategic vision and can help shape the development of the Trust’s future activities. To this end, as well as serving on the Board of Trustees the appointee may also be asked to join one of the two Board sub-committees. We would be especially keen to hear from people with a background in the law or investment management, but, as ever, we would be interested to hear from you if you are conversant with the current challenges in the fields of ageing and older people and the potential for change and innovation to meet them.  Applicants interested in the role might be expert in one or more relevant fields, from the biology of ageing to the use of new technologies in the organisation and delivery of services for older people.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Trust, and provides non-executive oversight of all DMT’s activities in order to ensure that the charitable objects are met.  As a charitable company, all Board members are appointed not only as Trustees of the charity, but also as directors and members of the registered company.

Meetings of the DMT Board are held quarterly in central London, but applications are encouraged from all parts of the UK.

Although the role is unpaid, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Note: DMT’s activities are entirely funded by a capital endowment.  The charity does not engage in fundraising.
