Job Description

Brighton Students' Union are looking for 2 external trustees to join our Board of Trustees. This is a voluntary position and the role joins 4 student trustees, as well as 5 Student Officers. 

Brighton Students’ Union is a not for profit charity representing over 21,000 students studying on any one of the 5 University of Brighton campuses (in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings) or at one of our partner colleges ranging from Worthing in the west to Hastings in east. We are dedicated to ensuring students’ time at university is the amazing, life-changing experience it should be. We are led by students and work solely for our student members to offer them opportunities to have fun, find a voice, be empowered and get involved with a range of activities. We are governed by a Board of Trustees, consisting of 5 full-time elected Officer Trustees, 4 Student Trustees and 4 External Trustees. The Trustees approve a maintenance grant from the University of over £1m which covers most of our areas of expenditure. The Union also secures additional funding from external sources for other specific projects.

We would welcome applicants with a keen understanding of higher education and issues affecting students and young people. In particular, we would encourage applications from individuals with previous experience in Charity Law and Human Resources.
