Trustee - Digital Technology
asthma uk

Job Description

Trustee − Digital Technology

Volunteer, Unremunerated

There is nothing as terrifying as the feeling of not being able to breathe or watching helplessly as a loved one struggles for breath. Although asthma affects 1 in 5 households in the UK it is, mistakenly, seen to be ‘sorted’. It’s not. In the UK today, every 10 seconds someone has a potentially fatal asthma attack. Every day the lives of three families are devastated by the death of a loved one to an asthma attack. Tragically, the majority of these could be prevented right now.

At Asthma UK we have a unique opportunity to make a profound, positive change to the lives of over 5 million people with asthma by stopping asthma attacks and curing asthma. Through this Trustee role you can play a crucial part in shaping how we make that change happen.

We strongly believe that we are at a time of enormous opportunity to transform asthma outcomes; through new avenues of scientific research and technology supported health management. We also believe that we – as Asthma UK – have the insights, networks and the passion to harness that opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people with asthma. In a connected world our size - under £10million income and with around 80 people – can be an advantage by driving us to be agile and strategic in our response to the constantly changing needs and behaviours of our beneficiaries, and the opportunities to partner with those who share our vision. .

We have recently reinvigorated our Executive and Trustee team and set an ambitious strategy to transform the charity to take advantage of the reach and scale technology can bring. We would like to recruit more Trustees to join us with digital and technology experience. If you have the skills, energy and enthusiasm to help shape the future for people with asthma, we want to hear from you.
