Job Description

AVID, the Association of Visitors to Immigration Detainees, is a small national charity supporting those held in immigration detention. We are seeking a competent Training and Membership Coordinator to join our small team. 

AVID works nationally to support volunteer visiting (befriending) in immigration detention centres. We are a membership network of small charities and grassroots groups who visit in every single detention centre in the UK, as well as in some prisons. Our main aims are to support, advice, train and provide advocacy support to visitors groups. We also work to share information and raise awareness of the realities of immigration detention, and to push for positive change through our policy work and advocacy objectives. 

The Training and Membership Coordainator is responsible for all aspects of designing and delivering support and training to volunteer visitors groups across the country, as well as developing new visitors groups. S/he will also play a vital role in developing the AVID network, acting as a support hub and liaison point between groups. 

  • Full time, 37.5 hours a week
  • £24,000 + 6% pension contribution
  • 11 month post, subject to funding. Further funding will be sought. 

We are now seeking applications for this post, which is offered on a full time basis for 11 months. We hope to secure further funding to continue this post.
