Job Description

italk is the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service provided in partnership between Solent Mind and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust

Solent Mind provides mental health support to communities across Southampton, Portsmouth and Hampshire.

We are currently delivering Step 2 Low Intensity psychological wellbeing services across Hampshire.

To further develop our italk service we are now recruiting for Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP)

We are looking for highly motivated and resilient individuals with a relevant qualification or mental health experience and a desire to work in one of the largest Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services in the country. You will work with patients with mild to moderate depression and anxiety.  We need people with energy and enthusiasm, who are flexible in their approach and can work well as part of a large, busy team in a high-volume service and demanding environment, whilst studying for their PWP qualifications.

We are offering one-year traineeships to Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, starting in January 2017.  PWP Trainees will work within the italk service for Solent Mind providing Step 2 interventions and guided self-help for people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. You will receive employment and a full salary, as well as one year of high quality evidence-based training at the University of Southampton.

  • You will need recent experience of working with people with mental health problems.

  • You may be a graduate (or equivalent) level in a relevant profession, or have acquired good practical experience of mental health work with evidence of recent relevant study.

  • You must be able to take up the post on Tuesday 3 January 2017.

In addition to the requirements in the Person Specification, candidates will have to satisfy the University that they are capable of completing the academic component of the training, alongside working within the service.

Initially, the role will be based at our Contact Centre in Eastleigh; however, the service will be moving out to locality hubs in the areas we serve in the coming months and these will become the main base.

Final closing date for receipt of completed applications is 12.00pm (Midday) Friday 11 November 2016.  However, applications are limited to 100 and once this limit is reached applications will automatically be closed.

Interviews are scheduled to take place during week commencing Monday 28 November 2016
