Marketing Manager - Training and Education
the international union against tuberculosis and lung disease

The Union Training and Education department provides training courses in Tuberculosis and Lung Health, Leadership and Management (IMDP) and Tobacco Control. 

This full time position will be home-based in the UK and will be supervised by the Global Training and Education Director, with dotted-line management to the Global Director of Communications. The role will primarily be part of both the Training and Education department but will also sit within the Communication department to ensure all marketing is integrated within the broader global communications approach, messaging and branding.

Main Responsibilities:

The Marketing Manager:

· Develops an integrated marketing strategy with objectives to recruit registrations for Union courses worldwide. The aims of the strategy must address the acquisition of new customers as well as attracting repeat purchases and increased loyalty from existing audiences.

· Uses effectively email marketing including:

o Database mining of existing email contacts, and working to minimise list decay and unsubscribes while increasing the productivity of our email sends

o Content development for emails, template designs, A/B testing and calls-to-action;

o Exploration of new customer email lists

o Effective use of direct mail software and evaluation techniques

· Is responsible for attracting site traffic to the training website, converting that traffic into new leads for the courses, and nurturing those leads to close into course participants; including search engine optimisation and link sharing. Explores role of social media as part of this digital pathway.

· Establishes an effective Customer Relationship Management system that is customer centred and supports progression of customers up a loyalty ladder.

· Collaborates with the communication team, builds and manages rich content and an editorial calendar to appeal to the target audience of Union courses (including blog posts, whitepapers, e-books, reports, webinars, infographics, alumni magazine, etc.)

· Explores the use of paid advertising when appropriate.

· Develops and implements evaluation of all marketing and carries out situational analysis to inform marketing strategies, including:

o Establishment of closed-loop analytics to understand how our inbound marketing activity turns into customers, and continually refines our process to convert customers;

o Segmentation of lists based on demographics, behaviours like past email engagement and website interactions (content downloads, site page visits, etc.);

o Measurement of results and optimises the lead nurturing workflows for these segments to convert leads into customers;

o Initiation of market research studies and analyse of their findings

· Manages the marketing budget spent, determining how money will be spent to get the work done, and accounts for these expenditures and the results generated by these expenditures (ROI).

Qualifications and requirements for the role:

The Marketing Manager is an action-biased, results-driven marketing professional, with a strong direct-marketing background, who bases his/her decisions on analytical skills. S/he must be comfortable with an international team and would ideally speak French and/or Spanish in addition to English

Essential:

· Minimum bachelor's degree with at least 5 years’ experience in marketing, a nd in particular direct or digital marketing;

· Action-biased, result-driven professional who bases his/her decisions on strong analytical skills;

· Good project management, marketing and social media skills essential;

· Self-Starter and detailed-orientated;

· Team player in multicultural and international workplace, assisting and supporting co-workers when needed;

· Able to work independently with minimum supervision;

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including copy writing skills

· A good eye for developing content tailored to the target audience

· Experience managing design process

· Some international travel will be required.

Desirable Qualities:

· Experience in the not-for-profit or public health sector a plus.

· Fluent French and/or Spanish advantageous but not necessary.

· International experience in low to medium income countries a plus.
