Job Description

Are you committed to helping survivors of sexual violence to recover and to protect people from further crimes?

The Hope Programme is looking to recruit to  our Board of Trustees. If you have experience of financial or legal matters, knowledge of Bedfordshire's diverse communities and a passion to improve services for victims - please get in touch.

Hope is a Bedfordshire based, dynamic charity dedicated to helping victims of sexual abuse to cope and recover from the crimes. During the past three years we have supported over 400 people and their families through our helpline and counselling.  Our vision is that victims of sexual violence are helped to recover from the trauma of the crimes and able to live fulfilled lives.

These are exciting and challenging times.  We have increased demands for our services and  our Trustees will lead on ensuring victims are offered the right services for them at the right time.  We offer counselling, creative therapy and life coaching to women and men and are key partners in an innovative NHS Talking Therapies pilot.

The Board meets approximately six times a year. Meetings are generally held during the evenings but occasional daytime meetings may be required.

We are committed to equal opportunities and seek to build a diverse board of trustees. We therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We pay trustees’ travel expenses and provide a full induction and continual training.

The role of a trustee includes ensuring the charity complies with its mission, governing documents and legislation and contributing to our strategic development but is much more.  We are looking for local people who will help us to improve and grow.   It is important that you have empathy with the aims and ethos of Hope and can relate to and work well with the CEO, staff and volunteers. An enhanced DBS check will be made.
