Job Description

The Constitution Society is an independent, non-party foundation which works to promote informed debate about constitutional reform.

The Society publishes papers on constitutional topics by leading experts as well as conducting its own research programmes and supporting affiliated organisations. We hold regular conferences, seminars and lectures in Parliament and in academic institutions.

We are seeking no more than two new trustees to join our Board. We invite applications from those with a genuine interest in the Society’s activities.

The successful candidates will have:
• A keen interest in politics and an awareness of current constitutional issues
• Experience of board level decision making
• Experience of interacting with multiple stakeholders
• A broad experience of good governance in business, the public sector or not-for-profit organisations and an understanding of the governance of charities and the duties and responsibilities of trustees

The Constitution Society has a Board of between 6 and 8 trustees, who are also directors of the Company. The Board meets five times a year with an AGM in December. The role of the Board is to shape the strategic direction of the Society, uphold its political neutrality and support the Directorate.

Trustees are unpaid but expenses are refunded.
