Knowledge and Innovation Lead
the connection at st. martin-in-the-fields

Job Description

The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields (CSTM) provides services which help 4000 homeless people each year in London avoid, move away from and stay off the streets. The charity has an annual turnover of £4.2m, a staff team of 80 and 50 regular volunteers.

We have recently agreed a new 5 year strategy. This includes use of a new service model based on client co-production and a strengths based approach. It also includes the creation of a new Knowledge and Innovation Team to support service growth and quality, develop evidence of what works at the frontline and our ability to influence policy makers. There will also be the opportunity for collaboration with the St Martins Charity Frontline Network to try new ideas and participate in partnerships in other parts of the UK.

As a result, we are now recruiting a Knowledge and Innovation Lead to take forward the development of this team of 4 staff initially (Policy and Good Practice, Evidence and Impact, Volunteering and Client Involvement). The Knowledge and Innovation Lead will:

  • Lead innovative, creative best practice initiatives across all services
  • Research and develop new service models and support opportunities for growth
  • Ensure efficiency, focus and a highly effective team
  • Lead the development of monitoring and evaluation across the charity to demonstrate the impact of our work
  • Manage external relationships, building CSTM’s reputation as a centre of excellence
  • Provide strategic and values based leadership

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in service innovation, policy and research, monitoring and evaluation in the field of multiple and complex needs. Alongside overseeing the work of a team, they must have experience of working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues.

The Knowledge and Innovation Lead must be an experienced, well organised and focused manager who uses coaching techniques to develop those around them. Finally, they must be a positive role model with the personal credibility to build confidence in the charity both internally and externally.
