Engagement Advisor
the connection at st. martin-in-the-fields

Job Description

The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields (CSTM) provides services which help 4000 homeless people each year in London avoid, move away from and stay off the streets. The charity has an annual turnover of £4.2m, a staff team of 80 and 50 regular volunteers.

Our new strategy from April 2018 includes our aim to develop our services in new ways.  This will include implementing a strengths based approach to client work, consolidating the implementation of a new service model, creating better pathways for clients into health and treatment services and improving our systems to demonstrate impact. The Engagement Advisor will help to deliver CSTM’s engagement and assessment service, working with clients to move into services to address the underlying causes of their homelessness. Engagement Advisors will provide a welcoming and engaging service within the Day Centre/Resource Centre environment ensuring that clients are assessed and supported into appropriate services. They will be expected to

  • Conduct strengths based assessments with clients and contribute towards client allocation and action planning
  • Take on specific recovery case work for those requiring shorter term interventions
  • Provide advice and signposting to support service users access into relevant housing and wider support services
  • Work in partnership with other frontline departments to ensure the smooth running of all services
  • Assist in the delivery of co-produced activities and groups to support engagement with clients
  • Work in partnership with other organisations from the public, private and voluntary sector to enhance our services including, in particular, links with the other Day Centres in Westminster and Central London
  • Contribute towards monitoring and evaluation of the team’s work

This role requires someone with a strong track record in co-production and a strengths based approach to working with clients who have multiple and complex needs. Engagement Advisors must be able to work in a busy service environment and be committed to playing a part in shaping and developing services to enable service users to move towards recovery.
