Volunteer Activities Support
the brendoncare foundation

Job Description

A volunteer role to support the residents to have fun, enjoy meaningful moments of engagement and to make the most of opportunities that are offered to them.

Chiltern View in Stone provides a home for individuals living with Dementia, where the emphasis is on quality and enjoyment of life. The staff offer highly skilled nursing care when necessary and are proud to do so in an environment where residents are helped to feel they are still in charge of their own lives.

The atmosphere of the home is one of light and colour, and it is divided into self-contained households to give a home-like feel of small family units. Each household consists of 15 bedrooms, a welcoming sitting room and a small kitchen area. The entrance hall, sitting rooms and dining room are all comfortable and easy to identify, and provide sociable places to be with others. For those who prefer more peace and solitude, their privacy is respected.

Support

You may support with activities a Brendoncare home organised by the Activities Coordinator or facilitate the running of a group to ensure that residents are offered new opportunities and can benefit from activities in the best possible way.

Volunteering with Brendoncare can be undertaken at any agreed time between a volunteer and the Home Manager or Activity Coordinator. We do ask volunteers to make a regular commitment so that the residents and staff have the opportunity to develop a relationship.

Various types of support may include:

  • Event Planning & Preparation – with an activities coordinator
  • Practical support with daily activities, going for a walk, taking part in Arts & Crafts
  • Supporting residents to go on an outing or when entertainers visit the home
  • Sharing your own skills & hobbies to enhance the lives of the residents we support

As part of the recruitment process we require 2 satisfactory references and a DBS check, both of which are organised for you. Volunteers receive an induction to the home with further training opportunities offered.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
