The Big Lottery Fund is the largest community funder in the UK – we’re proud to award money raised by National Lottery players to communities across the UK. Last year alone we gave out over half a billion pounds (£508.5 million) of National Lottery funding to over 11,000 community projects across the UK, enabling even more people and communities to bring their ideas and ambitions to life.

The role

With an operational budget of c£2m, a grant funding budget of c£30m, and a team of people to deliver across Northern Ireland, the postholder will be responsible for leading the Fund’s grant-funding activity, relationship management and operations in Northern Ireland, including managing relationships with the devolved government and senior stakeholders in the voluntary, public and private sector.  The Northern Ireland Director will work with a publicly recruited Committee and Chair to ensure the delivery of business priorities.

A member of a UK senior management team reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this is a key leadership role, contributing to the Fund’s strategic direction and corporate governance.

The person

Leading a senior team that delivers day-to-day operations in Northern Ireland, you will have proven experience of inspiring and motivating a team. Self-aware and emotionally intelligent you will drive a collaborative working culture that encourages openness, trust, accountability, and empowers others.  Outstanding analytical and communications skills will be essential to ensure the effective delivery of high -quality grant assessment and management.

A strategic thinker and persuasive negotiator, you will be someone who understands the nature of the country’s political landscape and are able to exercise sensitive judgement in response. It will be essential to hold the respect of internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate a genuine commitment to bringing real improvements to communities.
