Job Description

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families supports distressed children and their families through innovative therapeutic practice and research, training and promoting awareness of mental health issues. In April 2019, the Centre opened its new Centre of Excellence located in King’s Cross.

This post will work across the Centre’s Communications team and Early Years Programme team.

The first 1001 days of a child’s existence – from conception to two-and-a-half years – are among the most important in their lives. Relationships are formed. They soak up learning from their environment and those around them. The world starts to shape them. It is a time when we need to do our utmost to give them a fair start in life. That is why the Centre is launching an Early Years Network and external communications programme.

This new Early Years role will be to communicate our work to professionals and the public. We are looking for someone to promote our attachment-informed practice to front-line professionals working in early years settings.  It means setting up a network where professionals can learn from the best in research, practice and policy, and from each other so that we can improve the social and emotional development of infants.

You will have a unique range of skills; you will know how to spot a good story a mile off and to get it noticed; you will have an understanding of what early years professionals need; you will be able to translate research and practice into accessible formats using film, audio and your highly developed writing skills. Above all you will believe that you can use your skills to help professionals.

The post-holder will be based at the Anna Freud Centre, 4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH.

The Centre values diversity and aims to have a workforce that reflects this. We encourage applications from all sections of the community.
