Job Description

The Africa Centre is seeking a highly skilled, organised and dynamic individual to join The Africa Centre team in a crucial role. Working closely with and reporting to the Director, The Head of Marketing and Communications will lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s Marketing and Communications strategy, as well as ensure the day to day delivery and effectiveness of all our Communications, Marketing and Social Media. 

The role will take the lead in strengthening the profile and presence of The Africa Centre with the public and key stakeholders, building our visible impact locally, nationally and internationally to help support both the development of new relationships and the diversification of our income generation.

The Head of Marketing and Communications will drive and engage supporters and audiences through campaign delivery, digital communications, PR and marketing.  Where appropriate the role will also liaise with external partners such as PR agencies, on the successful delivery of key campaigns.

As a professional with experience of communications, marketing (especially digital marketing), supporter engagement, brand development and media, your remit will also include leading internal communications.  The ideal candidate will have a breadth of personal and/or professional experience to draw on in relation to African and diaspora culture, thought and politics, and a strong feel for the key opportunities and challenges for The Africa Centre in raising its profile.

A team player, you will thrive on going the extra mile and working in a fast-paced creative environment where the ability to multitask and work collaboratively across different disciplines is vital. You will have a high degree of professionalism with excellent interpersonal skills and great attention to detail.

You will be joining a professional staff team based in Southwark, London where the emphasis is on good communication and team work.
