Job Description

Talk for Health is a small, fast-paced and innovative mental health social enterprise. We teach ordinary people the skills of therapeutic talk, and empower them to take part in ongoing groups.  We work in Camden and Islington funded by the NHS and two other funders. We are tiny but growing.

We need a super-organised, ‘Make it Happen’ person as our new Operations Manager.  This project management role involves everything to do with delivering our free trainings and events.  We need someone with strong experience in this area.

This is a start-up, entrepreneurial setting and the core team will be you, our therapist Founder and a second Director at our home-based office in NW3.  We have a team of 20+ off-site Associates and volunteers.  You will be responsible for the day to day administration involved in delivering our service.  There is scope to help us grow, and to grow your own role within the organisation.

You will have substantial experience of managing training programmes or events, including:  promotion; participant management; data management; evaluations; managing volunteers.  You will be able to:

  • Organise yourself and others to exceptionally high standards
  • Manage multiple workstreams at fast pace, with stamina and a 'can-do' approach
  • Create and operate effective systems, solving problems as you go
  • Maintain high standards and attention to detail
  • Stay calm under fire and not take ‘no’ for an answer
  • Be warm yet firm and persistent with many types of people

Please don't apply if you are hoping that the role will provide you with sanctuary from the world. However, if you want to become an indispensable part of a fantastic social enterprise doing a worthwhile thing, step forward!

The job is full-time and you will need to:

  • Have your own computer – preferably Mac
  • Spend at least 3 mornings per week in NW3 at our home-based office and/or in Islington, our main area of operation.  The rest of the time you can work from home and the role allows considerable autonomy
  • Work some evenings and weekends
  • Have at least 2-5 years' relevant work experience
  • Be expert with Microsoft Office Excel, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Wordpress and a Project Management software (we use Trello)

This full-time position will begin with a 3-month trial period in March.  We intend the position to be permanent, however this is subject to funding.   Remuneration is £2,000 per calendar month.

As a first step, please send your CV and brief cover letter saying why you would be a good fit.

If your application is selected to go through to the next rounds, the stages will be:  application form; interview; 'test task’ at Talk for Health.
