Job Description

Sydenham Garden, the unique wellbeing centre helping people with mental ill health, seeks a talented and passionate Director to take the organisation’s work into its next phase. We will be launching a new three-year strategic plan in the next few months and the new Director will be central in leading that and growing the organisation. They will oversee a staff of eleven, over a hundred volunteers and hundreds of co-workers. The garden was established in 2002 and has grown to an annual income of c.£320,000, working on two sites in SE23. 

We are looking for a confident, collegiate and collaborative leader with experience and expertise in fundraising. Experience and awareness of community-based organisations and mental health services would be advantageous, as would experience of horticulture or creative activities. They should be able to inspire and motivate others and it is vital that they have the skills and qualities to maintain and develop the “family” ethos of Sydenham Garden. 

The right person will be passionate about mental health, able to build strong relationships across the sector and be an enthusiastic and dynamic ambassador. They will be organised and effective, able to ensure the maintenance and development of funding streams and to work with and be accountable to the Board of Trustees. 

A full time salary in the region of £38,000 - £40,000 pa plus 6% pension contribution is anticipated.
