Solent Mind is the leading ­mental health charity across Hampshire providing a range of high quality services to improve people’s mental wellbeing and to promote choice and rights to everyone who needs our support. Our services operate in various locations throughout the Hampshire area.

We are excited to be working in partnership with Southern Health to develop a new support provision in Southampton, The Lighthouse, which will support people experiencing a mental health crisis. This innovative service will offer a community based drop in at evenings and weekends, for people to seek support and talk about their issues. We are currently recruiting for:

SENIOR PEER SPECIALISTS (CRISIS SUPPORT)

Contract: Fixed Term Until 19 Jan 2021 (possible extension subject to funding)

Hours: 33.5 and 23.5 Hours Per Week (evening and weekend work essential)

Salary Range: £22,603 to £24,341 Pro Rata Per Annum

(plus enhancements for unsocial hours)

Location: Southampton

As a key member of The Lighthouse team, you will play a vital part in supporting people experiencing or at risk of a mental health crisis, and in developing this new service in partnership with mental health nursing colleagues from Southern Health. These posts will involve 4pm-12pm midnight shifts on a rota basis which will include some weekends. Unsocial hours enhancements will apply. Please do not apply if you are looking for a daytime job – the Lighthouse will only be open in the evenings and at weekends.

You will need to have personal, lived experience of a mental health issue, as well as the confidence and aptitude to calmly and effectively support people who are distressed and/or in crisis.
