Job Description

We have a full time Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner permanent position in Chelmsford. This role involves leading a team of DAPs, FDAPs, ADAPs and volunteers on a day to day basis offering the guidance and support they require in order to support medium risk refuge clients at the highest standards of practice. Also, you will be managing a caseload of your own and supporting the Service Manager or Senior Service Manager as required. This is a permanent position, which requires the candidate to:

  • Have experience working with Victims of Domestic Abuse
  • Have experience managing a caseload
  • Have experience working within a multi-agency and legislative framework.
  • Have experience supervising staff on a day to day basis
  • Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
  • Be able to form good relationships with clients and colleagues whilst working within professional boundaries
  • Have theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
  • Understand Safeguarding and child protection issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
  • Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
  • Understand the remits and resources of relevant statutory bodies and voluntary agencies.
  • Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
  • Have computer literacy skills and have some experience of working with databases.
  • Have excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
  • Have strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.
  • Hold a SAFE LIVES IDVA training certificate, Level 3 Skills for Justice NVQ
  • Be a car driver
