Job Description

Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide, which we aim to achieve through our current strategy: Working Together to Reduce Suicide. The Samaritans Legal & Governance team aims to enable Samaritans to better achieve this strategy, by providing guidance, support and expertise to Samaritans volunteers and staff in the areas of legal, governance, compliance and risk.

This is a particularly exciting time to be joining Samaritans. It is a period of unprecedented change for the organisation, as we progress our goal of being there for everyone, and work to improve our service, access, influence and evidence. Reporting to the Legal Counsel (Risk & Compliance), you will be directly involved in this change and development, providing pragmatic advice on the procurement of new products and services and implementing contracts that ensure that Samaritans is adequately protected from commercial, contractual and reputational risks.

With a post-graduate qualification in law or qualified by relevant experience in a legal or contracts/procurement environment, you may have developed your skills in private practice, in-house in the charity or commercial sectors, or a combination thereof. You will be a strong communicator with a collaborative and supportive approach, providing expert guidance at a time and in a way which enables others to achieve their objectives. You will be able to lead confidently on your own initiatives and projects, as well as working collaboratively with others in the team and wider organisation.

If you are looking to use your skills to enable Samaritans to be there for more people during difficult times and make a real difference in a rewarding environment, this would be the ideal opportunity.
