Job Description

Safer Places is an independent charity which provides a comprehensive range of services to adults and children affected by domestic and sexual abuse and family conflict who live in West Essex, North and East Hertfordshire and Southend. The people who use our services are at the heart of our organisation and we aim to work to enable them to overcome the impact of their experience and to build a brighter and safe future for themselves and their children.

We have a full time Housekeeper permanent position in Stevenage. This role involves ensuring that the properties which are managed by the organisation are kept in the best condition through cleaning, adherence to Health, Safety and Compliance standards ensuring that our clients are provided with the best environment where they can recover and heal and that once accommodation is vacated it is made ready to be occupied by the next client as swiftly as possible.

This position will require the candidate to be able to:

1. Ensure that the properties to which you are allocated are maintained; cleaned and prepared to a high standard for new occupants and that a full inventory is completed with the client on arrival. The role will also involve ensuring that on hand back, that all inventoried items are returned in good condition.

2. Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and materials are stored safely and securely as per health and safety policies and procedures.

3. Adhering to the Visual Standards agreed by the organisation ensure that all repairs are reported through the Service Desk.

4. Clean all communal areas to a high standard ensuring that they are hazard free at all times.

5. Report all accidents, occurrences, near misses and RIDDOR incidents immediately to the designated person in line with the Safer Places health and safety policy and procedures.

6. Ensure that stocks of consumables, spares and other essentials are maintained at all times in appropriately secure cabinets and maintain COSHH sheets and records in accordance with the requirements of the Health and Safety Policy.

7. Ensure that all outside areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.

Also, the candidate should:

  • Have previous experience in a cleaning role delivering high standards
  • Have experience of cleaning in a supported accommodation facilities
  • Have experience of working in a Team
  • Have high standards of customer care
  • Be able to form good working relationships with residents whilst working within professional boundaries.
  • Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
  • Be subject to DBS check
  • Be a car driver and use of a car
