Safer Places is an independent charity which provides a comprehensive range of services to adults and children affected by domestic and sexual abuse and family conflict who live in Essex and Hertfordshire. The people who use our services are at the heart of our organisation and we aim to work to enable them to overcome the impact of their experience and to build a brighter and safe future for themselves and their children.

We have a full time Assistant Gateway Referral Practitioner permanent position based in Harlow (West Essex). This role involves participating on a rota basis within the Gateway to Safer Places. Also, operating and responding to calls received through the Safer Places emergency line and referral lines including on- line. To assist the Gateway Referral Practitioner / IDVA Referrals as necessary to ensure all referrals are responded to on the basis of risk, need and client choice.

This position requires that the applicants to be able to (or have):

• Provide a professional and timely response to all requests for service
• Respond to calls and requests through the Emergency Line and referral email system and ensure that they are directed appropriately to relevant departments or members of staff
• Assist the Gateway Referral Practitioner in ensuring that the highest standards of assessment of those referred or self-referring.
• Assist the Gateway Referral Practitioner to ensure records are maintained to a high standard including databases.
• Provide general assistance to the Gateway Referral Practitioner
• Experience in working with vulnerable people.
• Experience of working on a help/emergency line
• Proficiency in using application software packages i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel,
Email & Internet
• Experience of working in a team
• Proven experience of using own initiative
• Proven experience of working with outside agencies
• Experience of customer service
• Be a car driver.
