The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) is the longest-established public health body in the world, with more than 6,000 members drawn from the public health community in the UK and internationally. An independent health education charity, our vision is a world where everyone has the opportunity to optimise their health and wellbeing. To support this vision, we offer qualifications, host the national Health & Wellbeing Awards, and publish internationally-renowned academic journals.

We cover topics ranging from childhood obesity to vaccinations. We produce high-profile policy and research on public health issues that challenge, disrupt and bring fresh thinking that pushes boundaries and deters complacency on issues that are important to the public and its health. We also campaign on major public health issues including drug policy reform, social media and mental wellbeing, and making our high streets healthier.

Despite our illustrious heritage, we are at the cutting edge of public health excellence and innovation. Our young and dynamic Marketing and External Affairs department is responsible for the maintaining the organisation as the voice of the public’s health.

We recently launched a new marketing strategy for the organisation and are now looking for a Marketing Executive to work with our Marketing Manager and the Marketing team to drive this forward with a focus on creating a consistent brand experience for our members, customers and stakeholders.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Implementing and managing high profile campaigns, including those promoting our annual Health & Wellbeing Awards scheme and RSPH Awards event, national public health campaigns, and events and conference programme
  • Creating engaging and impactful content to support campaigns, including web pages, graphics and brochures/flyers
  • Identifying opportunities for new campaigns to deliver on business objectives, such as recruiting new members and increasing the uptake of our qualifications
  • Reporting on campaign performance and wider trends to inform strategy and planning, including using analytics from website (Google Analytics), email (dotmailer), social and other sources
  • Managing and maintaining key campaign channels, including email, social media and PPC (we have a monthly Google AdWords grant of $10,000), while exploring the opportunities presented by new and emerging ones

Candidate specification

The successful candidate will:

  • Be proactive and personable
  • Have a degree or equivalent qualification
  • Have previous experience (1 year+) working in a marketing role with particular emphasis on managing campaigns across digital channels
  • Be business-minded and target-oriented
  • Have the ability to write in an engaging and compelling manner with good attention to detail
  • Be a team player, as well as a self-starter comfortable working with minimal supervision
  • Have a structured and systematic approach to managing and planning work
  • Be comfortable and confident engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
