About the PSU
The PSU is a charity for people facing court alone. We provide highly-regarded practical and emotional support to unrepresented litigants-in-person in 23 court centres throughout England and Wales. This year, we will provide help over 65,000 times. We are made up of over 700 volunteers and 36 staff members, including a senior leadership team of the CEO, the Head of Service, the Head of Fundraising & Development, and the Head of Finance & Resources.

The people we help are unfamiliar with the courts, and many are frightened as they face losing their children, homes, or livelihoods. Since the changes to Legal Aid in 2013, our workload has increased five-fold, but we still meet only a small proportion of the need across the civil and family courts.

The role
The PSU is completing a review of its strategy, and the overarching direction that it will take in the next three years will be agreed in March. Our current CEO will step down in August after a successful three and a half years in the role. The new post-holder will, therefore, be responsible for developing the detail of how we will deliver the change needed to increase revenue and public support for our mission, as well as  new and imaginative business models to enable us to meet more of the need that we seek to address. Working with the Leadership Team, you will have the skills to carry out the above, whilst maintaining quality and ensuring ongoing continuity to the day to day delivery of the business.
