Do you want to work for an established and respected local Mental Health Charity?

Solent Mind provides mental health support to communities across Southampton, Portsmouth and Hampshire.

Heads Up is a project designed to inform and educate children and young people about mental health and wellbeing within a school environment.

The project is in its 5th year in the New Forest, and we are extending into the city of Southampton, with help from Child and Adolescent Mental Health grant funding awarded to us by Southampton City Council.  We strive to help all children and young people to understand more about their own wellbeing and to build coping strategies and resilience, as part of the programme we offer.

We are currently recruiting for a: Project Worker - 1 Year Fixed Term Contract

Salary: £17,478 - £18,823 pro rata per annum, pro rata’d for 45 weeks spread over 12 months  (actual salary for 45 weeks = £9,197.75)

Hours:  22.5 hours per week for 45 weeks

Location: Southampton schools/15-16 The Avenue, Southampton

As Project Worker you, along with a team of volunteers, will be delivering workshops to all of the local primary and secondary schools within Southampton City.

It is essential for this post that you have your own lived experience of mental health issues as in delivering the workshops we will require you to talk about your personal experience with the children and young people in an open and honest way, being relatable and inspirational.

In addition you must have experience of working with young people, and of working in the mental health field, in either a paid or voluntary capacity.

As the workshops are being delivered in schools you will need to take at least 3 weeks of your annual leave entitlement during school holidays.
