Salary: £34,148 per annum plus £3,000 Inner London Weighting per annum

Contract: Permanent

35 hours a week

Carers Trust is the largest UK wide charity for the nation’s 7 million unpaid carers. Together with 170 Network Partners, we provide support, information, advice and services for children, young people and adults caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend.  The number of carers is a growing issue, with 3 in 5 of us likely to become a carer at some point in our lifetime. Carers save the UK economy over £119bn every year and act as a main support to our stretched health and social care systems.

We are looking for an experienced policy professional to join our high achieving team to help achieve change for people who care for family or friends with disabilities, long term health conditions or mental health or substance abuse problems.

Our Policy and Public Affairs Manager will be a key player in persuading decision makers to listen to the evidence and make the changes that are needed. You will have experience of working with politicians nationally and locally, the ability to analyse policy, write persuasively, and make concise recommendations. You’ll have experience in making best use of national and local government structures and a range of influencing tactics and have a keen interest in adult social care. You’ll also be responsible for managing our Policy and Campaigns Officer.

You’ll be committed to working directly with carers and the local organisations who support them, ensuring they are fully involved in making change happen, and be able to listen to and communicate effectively with all our key stakeholders.

Closing date for applications is 12 noon on 16 September 2015 with interviews on 30 September 2015 in Loman Street.

Carers Trust is committed to valuing diversity.

Carers Trust has a number of measures in place to support the carers in its employment including carers leave.
