Job Description

Our vision is to inspire young people to make a difference in the world; our Mission is to produce globally conscious young leaders by supporting their further education in the multi-cultural, multi-faith environment of the Pestalozzi International Community.  Central to everything we do are our core values of Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Commitment and Fun.

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our Board of Trustees providing an opportunity for them to be part of a dynamic team, responsible for the governance and strategic vision of the Charity. We would particularly like to hear from candidates with strong backgrounds in one or more of the following areas:

  • Secondary or tertiary education
  • International development
  • HR and staff development
  • Income generation and fundraising
  • The law
  • IT and data management
  • Corporate governance
  • Change management
  • Strategic planning and risk management.

Our organisation’s culture

Pestalozzi’s Scholarship Programme invests in high achieving but low income students who need our support to complete their secondary education. These young people are selected for their potential to become future leaders and develop the ability and knowledge to positively impact on the lives of many others.  Our programme helps to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for the students themselves and equips them to make a significant difference in society.  They come from the most marginalised communities of Belize, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe as well as the Tibetan communities in exile in India and Nepal.

What we have achieved

Pestalozzi Alumni go on to do many amazing things, from studying at prestigious universities across the globe, to supporting people in their home communities through charitable work or setting up their own businesses to provide much-needed employment.

There are Pestalozzi alumni working in the UN and the World Bank, in areas such as medical research, environmental conservation, healthcare, education and finance.  Every Pestalozzi student creates positive ripples that touch the lives of many others.

Our current programme has been running for 20 years. In this time 73% of our alumni have been awarded a Bachelor’s degree, 16% have secured a Master’s degree and 3% have achieved a PhD. Alongside their studies our alumni work with other charities or set up their own in order to pass on their good fortune.

Please apply with your CV and cover letter in the first instance.

Closing date: End of March 2018.
