Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic Senior Policy Officer to help increase the impact of our work, by ensuring that we can more effectively amplify the voices of local peacebuilders to those in power. This is an ideal role for someone with a passion for advocacy, who wants to make a real contribution to sustainable peace around the world.

We have a big ambition to change the way the international community responds to violent conflicts around the world, as well as to inspire the general public to support the work of local people on the ground who are working tirelessly to build peace. This is a very exciting time for Peace Direct, as we have been growing at a fast pace over the last few years and are likely to grow even more in the coming years. We are looking for someone who can take a leading role in our targeted advocacy activities in order to ensure that locally led peacebuilding efforts are given the attention and support they deserve.

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the confidence to engage with senior policymakers and other stakeholders and the humility to always listen to and respect the voices of those living in conflct affected communities who are working tirelessly to build peace. This is a fast paced and demanding role, suitable for people who can manage multiple priorities, have a passion for peacebuilding and who want to deepen their career in advocacy.

The successful candidate will have at least three years' experience in an advocacy role and will have a good theoretical and practical grounding in peacebuilding, international security or a related field. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, will be able to engage with a range of stakeholders, and will have experience in developing and implementing advocacy strategies. Finally, we are looking for someone who genuinely believes in our mission to stop violent conflict and build sustainable peace and who is excited by the prospect of joining a dynamic and growing international charity.

Peace Direct is an international NGO that supports local peacebuilding in conflict zones worldwide. We work with local organisations in ten countries around the world and aim to support many more in the years to come.
