Harrow Mencap is a campaigning organisation and a multi-project service provider supporting adults, young people and children with learning disabilities - and their families and carers - to ensure their needs, rights and aspirations are met.

 Harrow Mencap’s Campaign and Community Team coordinates a wide range of projects for people with learning disabilities – all of them innovative, all of them unique, and all of them highly responsive to the needs of the people who use them.

We have a number of vacancies to work on our Speak Up Now (SUN) and COPE projects.

Participation Project  Manager 28 hours a week 22,000 pro rata

Speak up Now is an innovative project that trains and supports People with learning disabilities and their carers to be involved in Patient participation groups and health forums that make decisions on health services in Harrow.

COPE (funded by  The Big Lottery, Reaching  Communities) supports  carers  of all impairment  groups, to  use  their lived  experience to  become peer experts to guide,  support and advise others to navigate  the health and  social care  systems.

For all posts you will need to demonstrate a passion and commitment that ensures disabled people and carers are the best placed to devise the support needed to live independent lives and an understanding of health and social care systems and processes; for the project coordinator post experience of project management is essential. For all posts, lived experience as a disabled person and/or a carer would be an advantage.
