Job Description

Safer Places is an independent charity which provides a comprehensive range of services to adults and children affected by domestic and sexual abuse and family conflict who live in Essex and Hertfordshire. The people who use our services are at the heart of our organisation and we aim to work to enable them to overcome the impact of their experience and to build a brighter and safe future for themselves and their children.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide a high level of structured support to an identified number of clients (and their children) who are living in the community as part of a “Stay Safe” programme which aims to support those experiencing domestic violence to stay safe without coming into refuge or as part of a resettlement programme for those resettling to new homes following a spell in refuge.

  • To work as part of a team responsible for the running of the services and the group activities that take place.

  • To provide support to clients and their children living in the community in line with a structured plan that is driven by the risks posed to the client and the needs and preferences of the individual client, which is regularly reviewed with the client to ensure it reflects their current situation.

    Between Monday and Friday  & between 09.00 am and 17:30 based in Herts

    Experience:

  • Working with vulnerable people.

  • Managing a caseload

    Knowledge and Skills:

  • Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.

  • Understand Safeguarding and child protection issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.

    Qualifiation

  • Hold a CAADA IDVA training certificate, or a relevant degree, or demonstrable equivalent experience, or a vocational qualification.

    Personal Characteristics:

  • Be compassionate and empathetic with your client’s situation.

  • Show initiative and be proactive when managing you caseload and interacting with your clients and agencies you are working with.

  • Enhanced DBS Check

    Essential:

  • Ability to work outside the normal office hours to cover on call on a rota basis.
