Who are we?

Part political, part business and part charity - NUS is a third sector membership organisation with a twist! Professionally run, but different – the exact-opposite of a corporate. Collaborating with over 550 amazing member students’ unions, we provide a huge range of services and support to them. With over 220 creative NUS colleagues working together every day to support elected student leaders - as they make change in the world and improve the lives of students - we help make it happen!

What’s the job?

Our award-winning sustainability programmes engage tens of thousands of students and staff each year across the UK. Our work empowers students to take positive action on social justice and sustainability across campuses, curriculums and communities. Together, we're shaping education to create a fairer and more prosperous society for everyone.

Our Department for Sustainability is made up of 25 highly committed individuals that work both on and off campuses nationwide, and increasingly overseas as we engage other NUS’ around the world in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

The Department currently generates c£1.6 million of income each year, with 50% coming from universities buying in to our change programmes, and 50% coming from grants and sponsorship. This new role will lead on developing and delivering an ambitious grant and sponsorship strategy that enables us to build on our initial successes, and grow our sustainability work in the UK and internationally.

Who you are

We are looking for an exceptional candidate with a proven track record in fundraising, someone with a canny ability to prospect for funding and then convert it into secured income. The successful candidate will have fantastic networking skills, impressive communication skills, with an innate commitment to produce high quality work. You will be driven by our vison, creating a more just and sustainable society through education.
