Job Description

Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest is currently the largest Mind in London, supporting around 4200 clients per year in their wellbeing, resilience and recovery. Having sound financial resources, committed staff, a positive environment and effective systems to support our operations is fundamental to our success.

The Director of Finance and Operations is a key member of the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO to nurture and strengthen all of Mind CHWF’s assets; its people, culture, premises, finances, technologies and infrastructure to deliver our ambitious strategic plan. The work is engaging, rewarding and demanding: the role gives you the opportunity to work at a strategic level, for a high profile and well respected charity.

You will be a qualified and experienced financial manager, with experience of managing a small team, and have the aptitude to lead the development of the full range of support services ( HR, IT, Risk and Facilities). This requires a collaborative leadership style and the ability to develop teams to their full potential. With a strong “can-do” attitude, you will combine practical, hands-on skills with a strategic mindset and the ability to manage change and achieve positive outcomes. Ideally you will have experience of working in the charity sector and have an understanding of various funding streams and contract compliance processes.

You will be adaptable and willing to get up to speed quickly, with the ability to streamline processes and manage busy workloads with limited resources. An understanding and willingness to learn about mental health and wellbeing is essential, as well as a commitment to building strong and effective mental health services for the community.

This is a full time role based in our head office close to London Fields.  However, we are open to discussions about flexible working arrangements to suit your needs.

Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest is committed to equality of opportunity for all staff, and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

We are a disability confident employer. All applicants with a disability, who meet the minimum essential short-listing criteria are guaranteed an interview. If this applies to you, please email us the attached equal opportunities form to the HR Team.

We at Mind CHWF want to assure you that your privacy and the security of your data is our top priority. It always has been, and it will continue to be, as we refine our policies and internal processes. Please take a moment to read through our applicant’s privacy notice.

Closing date: 3 June 2019   Interviews: 10 June 2019
