Job Introduction

We are recruiting three new members to the BBCs Charity Appeals Advisory Committee which is made up of independent experts from outside the Corporation who advise and support the BBCs Executive Board.

Main Responsibilities

Voluntary members with either medical research charity expertise or specialist knowledge of the international sector.  Three year term of office.

You will advise on policy, scrutiny, the allocation of broadcasting time and the strategic development of the BBCs relationship to appeals which include BBC Children in Need, Comic Relief/Sport Relief, the Radio 4 Appeal including the Christmas appeal for St. Martin-in-the-Fields, BBC One Lifeline, appeals in the Nations and English Regions, appeals on behalf of the Disasters Emergency Committee and other projects where funds are raised for charities.

The Ideal Candidate

In order to ensure a mix of expertise on the AAC, we currently require two members with specialist knowledge of the international sector and one member with medical research charity expertise. Candidates will also need to demonstrate experience in at least two of the following areas: social policy, fundraising, finance, grant making, legal issues, monitoring and evaluation. They should also be, or have been, a CEO or senior executive of a charity. Your contract will be for three years, renewable for a further two years by agreement. The position is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be met.
