Job Description

Fixed Term from 1st December 2018 to end August 2019

Develop and manage Manchester International Festival’s volunteer scheme for MIF19 and feed into early stage plans for volunteer programmes at The Factory - working in partnership with appropriate organisations and agencies to deliver an engaging and fulfilling volunteer experience for a diverse range of people.

Responsibilities

  • Develop MIF’s volunteer strategy and policy, including team liaison, recruitment strategy and application process, skills screening and selection of volunteers
  • Develop partnerships with appropriate organisations and agencies including community and voluntary sector organisations, local authorities, universities, sponsors and other cultural partners to ensure an effective and fulfilling volunteer programme accessible to a diverse range of people
  • Recruit and manage a delivery team including Volunteer Coordinator, Volunteer Assistant and Volunteer Team Leaders and be responsible for scheduling and distribution, training and orientation, communicating with and coordinating resources and welfare of volunteers
  • Plan, develop and implement volunteer training and induction schemes including accreditation schemes where appropriate, volunteer resource requirements including volunteer information, induction packs and volunteer handbooks, volunteer uniforms and volunteer events 
  • Identify and work with the appropriate volunteer shift management system and database to ensure it is managed and developed as required for MIF
  • Work closely with relevant MIF teams (e.g. Creative Engagement, Marketing & Press and Development) to maximise awareness and opportunity within the Volunteer programme, and to ensure integration into the organisation’s other activities and needs 
  • Be responsible for the welfare of Volunteers at MIF and be the last point of appeal to resolve management difficulties
  • After the 2019 Festival organise and assimilate volunteer feedback and produce an evaluation report with key information and recommendations for the future
